Default I Love Kitchen Implements.

Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, BigLots just about anywhere. $2-$6 for a multipack of wood stirring spoons or my favorite, heavy near flat wood spatulas. It does add that element of "domestic discipline" to the household.

A wooden spatula was my first implement. When he had broken two on my butt, J decided it was time to buy a paddle

Never tried a wooden spoon though, must have a go with that...

Nice pics, thanks.

I no longer have my favorite flat wooden stirrer or many of my wooden spoons b/c M likes to use them on me. I find that they break very easily. I imagine the Walmart ones would be very insubstantial. I want to get a thick heavy one from Wm Sonoma, but then I would be unhappy if it got broken.

You should branch out and buy one of those rubber strap things that help to open jars. Sorry, i don't know what they are called but you get a long, thin rubber strap which extends from a handle and can be looped back round it.

It has one heck of a sting though - so much so that i have had only one (count em!) stroke of it before i begged never to have it again

Oh yeah, and good for getting tight lids off jars too

Personally, I hate wooden spoons and think they should all be burned. Those things are pure evil.

Evil is as evil does. And just what evil thing did you do to warrant a wooden spoon spanking might I ask?

Default Go to a dollar store

I got a two pack of high impact nylon spoons, one solid, one slotted.

They are no good for cooking, would melt in the pots and pans. You can mix ingredients in food prep with them, but the best thing they can be used for is good whacks to the bottom. If I can find some more, I intend to send Lady D a set soon.

Default Indeed...

They are mean as mean can be. BUT the best that I've found are at crate and barrel. They are thick and made of hardwood. I got a great maple pancake flipper, totally flat and durable, as well as a flat backed maple spoon. Verrrry mean esp on thighs (backs of or inner!). Worth checking out!
