http://www.worldspankingforum.com/chat.htm

There's the link to the chat; you can get there through this board but it's easier to make it a favorite in your browser.

You can use any username (though using the same one as you do on the board helps people recognize you) and you don't need a password (leave that blank).

There are scheduled chats; the link for that post is http://www.worldspankingforum.com/fo...=&threadid=858. Occasionally someone will set up a special scheduled chat; Carrie and Trish hosted one a couple of Sundays ago. You can make an appointment to meet someone in chat, or you can post a message like Shoe did asking people to join you (though the success rate on that is iffy). AND, there may be times when people spontaneously show up in numbers sufficient to make for fun chatting; I thought that wasn't true (that typically anyone who drops in to the chat room finds it empty and gives up without anyone else having shown up), but Shoe tells me it's not. So I guess you can give it a try any time. If the chat room is empty when you arrive, you can leave one session of your browser in the chat room and go surf in another, and the chat program will announce ("Welcome") when anyone enters the room, so you don't have to visually check back to the chat room window all the time.

I hope this helps.

Ahhhhh Michael once again you are the one I look up to for the best info on the board. Thank you from this shy kitten for posting that~~~Being new as well I didn't understand how the chatroom worked and felt a little embarrassed asking...... lol and I didn't want to pop into the chatroom if it is in a private session so to speak for the people who wanted to meet someone there for playtime. .

love,
Princess

princess,

I'm glad I was of help to you as well as dare `ia. Shyness is charming, but I hope you won't be embarrassed to ask questions.

As for people using the chat room for private chat, it certainly does happen. But it is a group chat room, so there's no reason to be embarrassed if you interrupt someone. (It's the equivalent of two people kissing on a park bench -- how much privacy did they think they could expect?) If it's clear you interrupted something, you can always politely take your leave.

The chat program has a private chat feature. If you double-click someone's name (in the list off to the side), it opens a private chat box. Discreet people, when they're using the chat room for something private, go into private chat even if there's no one in the main room when they start, to avoid being interrupted later. So if you ever enter chat and the people already there don't seem very talkative, they may be in private chat. When I'm in private chat and someone arrives, I consider it polite to tell them what's going on, so they won't wonder why nothing (that they can see in the main room) is being posted. In a case like that, you can either hang around in case someone else shows up, or you can leave, but at least you aren't keeping the others from continuing their private conversation.

I hope this helps.

"baby shoe" - You snooze you lose... I was just there, saw you were online and in the chat but no baby shoe. That makes me sad.... I was in the mood to tan your hide.
