Finer Qualitys of Tops/ Doms

I think I have seen an example of a poor Top/ Dom.
My question is what (in your opinion) makes a Top a good one.



Not sure if this is the right place to post this but since my question is directed at mainly the subs, I felt safer posting here with the war going on in the main area.

Yes Wildcat you have definitely seen what you classify as a bad Dom. However, I must confess, this is the only example I have seen of this in over a year on this forum, guess we're bound to hit one every now and then.

My opinion of a good Dom.

He is caring, loving, strict yet gentle. He has the ability to admit when he might not be right and not feel his dominance has been sacrificed, if nothing else he will be respected for this.

He does not buy into the 'Nike' Commerical 'Just Do It' in the emotional/spanking sense. In other words, he realizes there are emotions and he welcomes them all the while putting your fear to rest and making you know, you'll be fine.

He follows through in his punishment and praise of you. He is respectful of himself and shows others respect. He never loses his cool or composure in public or alone with you in a session. He is in control, not only of you, but himself.

Of course, having a sense of humor is a good thing.

He will challenge you to grow emotionally and mentally. He reaks self control, confidence and has an air about himself which demands respect but it's an unspoken respect. It's a respect which is known, not pushed, but earned.

He does not throw around his dominance and his ability to Dominate because he is self confident in his own abilities and finds no need.

He can Dominate without being a bully, hever raising his voice or losing control. He always has your best interest at heart and realizes you're a precious gift which has been entrusted to him and not to be taken lightly. He respects women and never takes his sub for granted, but appreciates every nuance she offers willingly.

Oh, he also sports a cane, paddle, strap and only gives good girl spankings! *Giggling* Okay, wishful thinking....lol....

Hhhmmm.... I need to get to bed as I will get the hairbrush for being up much to late. However, I'm sure there are a million qualities I could offer up.

However, if you truly want to now what a 'good Dom' is, just watch Bob, SirJ, MrM, LadyD, Moose, Dancer, Michael they all are great examples.

I am sorry you had to witness what you call a 'bad' Dom but you do need to be careful and seek safely, and perhaps you've learned what you don't want. So perahps good has come from this situation!

Thanks for you answer. I enjoy reading your posts. Glad to see arrogance was nowhere in your description but it does leave me with the mental picture of someone sporting a large red 'S' on his chest. :funny:
